That's because WicoNoise is a kvlt underground with only a few members, no talent and a shared pocketful of dream-filled acorns.

Oh yeah, and we're all poor i.e. either no job or or shitty job Razz

Then we have Zola Jesus, Peter J. Woods, [apparently] Burial Hex and a handful of others... they're probably too busy or don't give a shit about one, possibly two or even more nearly-unknown noise artists who don't even have a location or time set up yet, let alone shirtless performers, tapes or the newest DOD distortion pedal.

There's the nutshell version, anyways. Honestly, I have no experience playing live and don't live in Madison, so I may just be slinging mud in relation to the whole of Wisconsin.

Not at all, very accurate.

You forgot to say that it's very hard putting on a show in which the crowd isn't all hipsters.

Or all ambient-loving, doped-out washup hippies.

By the way, Matt (mind if I call you that?), did you check out this guy>
http://www.last.fm/music/We+Are+a+Terrible+Person

Apparently WI-based, and a "Straight-edge-vegan-trend-setting-fad-loving-cool-kid" but it might be worth a shot to contact him. Not sure what he's up to now.

Hey Matt, thinking a little too far ahead her (still need a date and time before it even becomes feasible to play), but it's been bugging me:

I'd like to sell some tapes at the show, however this is also to raise money, yes? Could we do something like 50% of the profits from my tapes go to Mouka/Lauren? It's just that I'd like to have some scratch for trades and general costs in the future. I'd be honest about it, maybe make a sign with an notice; if that makes me look like an asshole at the show, so be it.

Or I could have less tapes and just give 100% to Mouka. Thing is, I have six tapes that are ready to go (quality wise kinda meh but very limited and with the GG Allin cover I mentioned awhile back) and six that should be here by next week. I doubt anyone would buy more than a few, of course. Thinking out loud, let me know what you think.

Dude it's your art you deserve 100% of all money given to you as payment for said art. I'd have a jar for Mouka's donations but you are free to set up a table or whatever you want to sell stuff of your own Smile I feel that is the most fair thing to do.

Talking to the guy you linked me to. He may be down, but probably under a different project name, as the equipment used for We are A Terrible Person is experiencing problems.

What I'll probably end up doing is something like 50-50 or 25% profits to mouka; fuck, the tapes'll probably be only four bucks a piece anyway, which should be easy to calculate should anyone actually buy one. Taking all the profit is something I'd expect those "bigger" WiscoNoise acts to do, but at least they have an exscuse since I think they'd bring in more money by just being there, whereas I have no excuse not to give something. I have no idea who Mouka is IRL but that doens't mean I can't help out. I insist.

Speaking of which, how do we know our shit won't be taken as a five-finger discount? Well, besides the honor rule I mean. Will there just be someone at a table while another person goes up and does his/her performance?

I'll look around for more artists too. I'm sure you've already acraped some pretty dark corners of "the scene" around here but it's the least I can do. I'm frankly surprised by the number of artists I occassionally find in WI.

(*busy but giddy productivity giggle*)

Obviously I'm getting a little ahead of myself; it's pretty exciting all things considered.
The main thing is to get a date and time, which I know you're working on and don't need me pestering you for it. I'd really, really like to do a live show, but unless I get a driver's liscense or a more reliable network of rides it'll be at best a challenge to get over there. Granted I can drive but only with a liscensed adult in the car as well, and I really don't want my mom to be there like "OMG, THAT'S MY SON RIGHT THERE HE'S SO UNIQUE EVEN THOUGH HE'S JOBLESS AND A SOCIAL SHITSTAIN HERE"S A PICTURE OF HIS REAL FACE AND NAME AND PHONE NUMBER GOOD LUCK HONEY!!!"

Yeah you do whatever you want if and when you sell stuffs. I can probably find someone willing to be the counter person.

Artists I know of:

me and you of course, the cemetery improvement society, bilderburg, loop ret@rd, copeater, db peterson, sfn, burial hex, crystal dragon, e.l.m., drunjus, wilamina baker (botched the spelling but yeah), we are a terrible person and a noiser who I have yet to meet but I know exists (roommate of guy who puts on grind/punk shows at his place)

I'm about to investigate and see if I can find any more

Holy Shit, Protestant? Really? Those guys kick fucking ass. Argueably one of the best hardcore bands ever IMO.

Acutally, I was speaking to one of my classmates who played a show with them so now it doesn't seem too surprising. It's cool to know someone who was actively involved in a music scene that isn't totally ho-hum.

And PBB? Last time I checked he was from Chicago. In fact I htink I still have the packaging.

And if "right arm severed" means what I think it means, it could either be a fucking great band name or a pretentious bunch of antifas.

Some more thoughts, because I can:

W. Baker sounds more like a cross between stand-up comic and party girl who knows how to work a synth or sampler or whatever. Saw some videos and I hear nothing remotely "noise" about them, except maybe her rantings.

Elm is the kind of artist I'd expect to see on Twilight Luggage or something. Ambient with acoustic shit. Not bad. So far my favorite. The artwork with the two wolves is awesome.

Copeater is almost what I expected. I know I keep on saying "not bad" here but that's about all I can give. Some good headbanging stuff all things considered.

Since Insect Warfare played there, I have a certain respect for artists who attend the Speed Trials. SFN has a video with sort of shitty quality but it evens-out. Not unlike copeater but more grind-y.

A band named Bongzilla that plays stoner metal? What a surprise! Um... not bad, moving on.

I don't even know what to say about Pushmi-Pullyu. When people say band x, y or z sounds great when you're high, I assume this is either x, y or z.

CTRLSHFT is just techno, nuff said. Actually kinda nice, reminds me of when dance was actually cool.

Ifihadahifi's supposed noiseness is just a straight-up fuckin' lie, based on what I've heard, this is far more poppy punk than anything noisy or harsh.

John Most I could get into if I was in the right mindset. There aren't enough poets and spoken word artists out there that can hold a candle to Joe Bag IMO. Most comes close.

Apparently going under the awesome name of "Mr. Fuckhead" now, Arvo Zylo is more fuckin' like it. A solid harsh noise act.

Given my recent interest in ritual music, I'm more willing to tolerate Kinit Her's few ridiculous moments. Still rpetty good.

Andrew F. apparently does a lot of beatboxing stuff. Again, nothing noisy but a shit ton better than whatsherface baker.

Keep in mind a lot of these insights were researched in an astonishing one minute per band, and I left out some either because they were'nt all that notable or I couldn't find info on them; youtube is my first stop for finding out more on obscure bands, and it's rare I'll dig for one if it doesn't hold my attention already. Of course, I also have no problem with non-noise genres but some of these people don't belong anywhere near the noise catergory.

Yeah, I'm not going for a pure noise show as variety would be great. General experimental projects as well as diy projects of any sort would be great support. Wilamenjnajrmkafa, baker played at my 2nd show and she was actually pretty good. She did a crazy piece with a violin and singing. Not noise, but experimental.

I played with e.l.m. twice as well. Each time they play it's a very different style. The first time was with some crazy pipe system, the 2nd was with more classical instruments (sax, stand-up bass, etc). Both times were good. Supposedly they do a show involving a giant wall and a chainsaw from time to time.

Copeater and sfn are the shit. More powerviolence-y, but I've seen sfn do a show with some experimental projects.

I played with pushmi-pullyu once. It was before the addition of a second member, so I'm not sure if the style has changed at all. It was ok.

Too lazy to explain any more

Note: we can't be too picky. Even though the list of local underground artists is large, lots may be impossible to contact, no longer exist, moved, will drop out at the last minute or not interested. So I always contact more artists than I want to play, because there are always projects that will fit that desciption.

Lol, I'm going to go have a Sauce Party with HOTTUBS in the Catacombz of the Craig Microcassette System. Than I'll slip on some Sunglasses and Piss Piss Piss Moan Moan Moan because of The Unnecessary Funpoint Lecture of that Bloodyminded Chris Vamp and that perverse engineer whose Reptile Worship created The Killer Dolphin With Rabiess.
