Welcome to the fucking club :/

I've been wanting to do something live and at this point while transportation/time would be a big issue I'm more comfortabe with the scenario that I'll totally suck (which will probably happen at my first live show, should I have one). Hoping to practice this weekend, actually; see what I can do with two handfulls of batteries, a power strip or two and anything I have that can make noise.

What do you have in mind? Location? Rough date? Rough time period? Crowd size?
How much of your own shit did you have to bring in your last live show? Did they have any electrical access beyond a wall outlet?

EDIT: Got the myspace email. Lauren's mom sounds like a real fucking prize. Christ.

if all else fails, convince some people to start noise projects... or at least pretend to, for the sake of the show.

lol durrhurr

If you get a ride and stuff I think it'd work for you. The places I've played had a fair amount of outlets. I always bring a few power strips just in case though. Location: either glass nickel east, basement show, or revolution cycles. Not sure of the date, as I have to talk to the venue people to get a date before I can decide. Shows are usually at night. Not sure about the crowd size. It totally depends on who is playing and how well you do putting up/passing out flyers.

lol ss88, I know of a fair amount of locals it's just that a lot of them usually just don't reply of flake out last minute.

Also, I could do flyer art. Might be able to make copies aswell. How much would you need? 50 8.5X11s or soemthing smaller/more quantity?

Yeah, that'd be helpful. I could prolly use about 50 8.5x11s that could posted all over for people to see and then a large amount of some smaller ones that can be handed out to people directly. I could totally pay for some of it if needed.

I saw one of those little ones with a show for Loop Retard and like four other guys with a skull decoration or something in the middle. It was fucking stupid I was thinking, shit, I could do way better than this haha.

I guess it would help to know who would be playing, though I could come up with a rough idea. Looking at ads now for ideas on spacing and text and shit. Stay tuned...

Not sure who's gonna play yet as I still need a venue and a date.

I'm learning plenty about effective poster making, plus I have plenty of stock paper from like forever ago I could (and would like to) use. WOuld like to play this show but it depends on the time and date, if I can get a ride, if there's a strong possibility I'll pass out while wearing a mask or not, etc.

Otherwise, no, not that I know of. It's only been like three days anyways Razz

I sent out invitations to 11 local projects and so far 5 have been read and there's only been one reply, basically saying that they need a date and venue before they know if they can go or not. I've come in contact with multiple venues and the one that seems the most promising at this point is revolution cycles. The owner told me to call him back at the end of the month so I will do that.

I'm supposed to hear from a venue owner by tomorrow. I was told to call back if I don't hear from him Saturday so yeah. I put on a show at the same place before, but that was over a year ago, hopefully others will be interested in performing. Plus I'm gonna put the flyers ALL OVER so it's not just hipster paradise.

My first show was nothing but hipsters. It sucked.

Update: I have discovered a possible house that hosts noise shows occasionally. A guy who lives there makes noise and puts shows on. I tried going to one but instead had to work all fucking day. I'm gonna see if I can get in contact with the guy to see if I can get something together though.

Yeah, I just need to contact the guy in charge of noise shows there and tell him I'm interested. It's hard cuz he usually locks himself into his room for the metal/punk shows though XD

Nope. The cops couldn't get it since there's no way to prove ownership of cash. Although they believed us over her. The whole reason why I'm trying to get a show going is so I can try raising money to give to her and her grandma since they were totally fucked over. Btw Lauren = Mouka
