Welcome!
I'm sure I can speak for Durik aka 10564 as much as myself when I say you're not alone. All I started out with was GarageBand and a tape recorder (still use these heavily) and, hey, you got to work with what you got
Anyways, here's my project:

Happy trails!

Currently, I mostly use Audacity for my tracks. All of my tracks are available to listen to on last.fm, but if you prefer, I have tracks available on MySpace as well.

mdr/Durik, you have so many toys I want to play with D:...
-starts to turn all the knobs and press all the buttons-
I think I would especially have fun with your contact mic.

this all looks really tight. i feel weird now because the only actual "equipment" i have is my guitar, keyboard, a microphone i found in a used high school musical game, and old childrens toys from the attic. i really want to start getting some more equipment now lol. btw everybodys music sounds great.

Re: new here. would really like to hear your music
silly ss88
if you want to keep it a solo project, keep it semi-simple. Get too much equipment and you'll get overwhelmed and sound like shit (that's at least the case for me).
craigslist is the shit for equipment. I always look and find more shit on there I want.
Also, keep your eyes peeled for stuff at places that sell used equipment. I just discovered that the guitar center by me has one and I've already made a list of what I think is worth getting from it, XD.
Ebay is another good place, and goodwill is good for someone who's wanting to get into circuitbending.
If you want pedals cheap as fuck, check out stuff made by danelectro. Sure they're not top-of-the-line quality, but they work and are cheap.
when I first started making noise all I used was the microcassette recorder, guitar, a shitty practice amp and audacity. Master what equipment you have before evolving to something more, otherwise you won't know what to do with what you've got.
download audacity, learn to use it. Add vsts to it for more effects (I can upload all the ones I have as a zip and give you the link if you want).
For any of the other programs, just torrent them.

Re: new here. would really like to hear your music
You must be new to Noise boards. The train of thought at these places is always on derail ( which is what I luvs about them.)
I live on and for cheap pedals. I too have gotten some good deals at Git Center. Ebay is pricey to me, as what too many sellers charge for shipping is what I want to pay for the pedal! Pawn Shops can be a great place to get stuff, and I need to tell everyone (as pawn shop guys are often weasels) ALWAYS HAGGLE! They usually respect you more if you do, I never pay what they ask for, and the worst they can do is say NO!
Every year around Xmas, here locally, they have a Music Swap. It's like a garage sale/flea market but only for musical stuff. I always get something cool there, for pretty cheap. I just wish they had it a few times a year.
I was talking to the guy who started it, and he said he and his buddies always talked about it, over drinks, and never did it. So one day, he just rented a space, and did it himself. It's something anyone can do, rent a space (he usually does it at a school cafeteria or the grange) sell table space, charge cheap admission, and advertise it to musicians, (on Craigslist, bulletin boards, etc) and that's it. I think he's done it for 13 years now, and every year it's something I (and many others) look forward too. You'd be surprised who and what come out of the woodwork.
One year I got a Mutron III for twenty bucks. It's a really rad filter, and they sell all the time on Ebay for over three hundred bucks. Last year I got a Rockson Metal Rocker, the seller was asking 5 bucks, I asked if it works, and he took 4. It's a decent high gain pedal, and I love that the paint has slightly worn off of it, so instead of Metal Rocker, it says Meta' Rocker!
So always keep your eyes and ears open.
By the way in answer to your original question... NO!!!
You, and no one else can hear my Noise because...
A) You're not worthy.
B) You wouldn't get it anyway.
And (the real reason)
C) I am a lazy bastard with too much to learn. Hell I haven't even started using or learning how to use my 4-track, let alone computer recording. I have to much junk I need to figure out.
For example this week, I spent about four or five hours cleaning up, and gathering my manuals for filing. I am almost finished with that, then I need to actually clean up, and gather my equipment. I guess that's what spring cleaning is for.
S*I*G*H*, maybe someday.

Rev, use fucking audacity.
-plug amp or mixer into input on computer
-press record button on audacity
-when done, press stop
-export as wav or mp3
and yeah, threads derail like crazy on here, it makes it more exciting not knowing what you'll see next
