MADISON IS BEAUTIFUL, there are lots of parks, and crisp clean air. You can actually see many stars... I LOVE IT. And and and.... There are lakes, you can go canoe-ing or kayaking or something.
AND.
Did I mention Madison, WI is awesome?
By the way, it's an awesome place. Yep.

Re: Madison WI
...and the little communities bordering Madison are desolate, shitty ghosttowns who only exist for kitch value.

middleton is a pretty cool guy
And I guess Monona is alright too.
But its just dead-as-fuck places like Albany that make me hate Wisconsin, though I suppose its no different elsewhere.
Re: Madison WI
anything interesting to eat in Madison. like burger joints or something. pizza. anything.
Re: Madison WI
Well, 10564 and I are vegetarians, so we'd mention any of the little vegan restaurants/"joints" in the area. I haven't been to any yet, but I plan to check some out.
Oh, and 10564's mom's kitchen/dining room is basically a restaurant. She cooks up a mean dinner. And lunch. And breakfast, oh goodness! (She's an excellent chef, through and through).
But yeah... I don't know of any places yet, but I'll be sure to let you know once I come across something c:

Re: Madison WI
Glass Nickel Pizza- Great pizza, wings, whatev; small bar environment with ever-changing arty atmosphere (however the infamout "nickel table" sticks around); 10564 performed here awhile back; two locations, but I'm not sure which is which.
Bagels Forever- Quick but to-die-for bagels for students on the fly; variety of options; not a sit-down place.
Paisan's- Excellent and classy sit-down joint by the lake; variety of Italian and non-italian food.
I'm sure the're plenty of others I just can't put my finger on right now.
There's also a lot of good "homie" joints outside of Mad town for some of the best burgers, steak, etc. you've ever had in your life.

Re: Madison WI
pretty much if you wander around near the capitol building you can:
-eat
-get drunk
-talk to homeless people
-possibly meet people (during summer there are all sorts of events downtown but since it's winter there isn't much)
-see a concert (again, depending on when you go... and what kind of music you're after)
we have maps of the downtown area labeled with all sorts of shit to do at my job.

Re: Madison WI
I'm so fucking anxious that I can only experience about half of that in under an hour or two, max.
Re: Madison WI
i know most college towns have some sort of co-op type thing so if i was vegan or vegatarian i don't think that would be a problem. plus there is a Whole Foods in Madison apparently.
i'm kind more into the diners dives and drive-ins type stuff so if there were a really unique or family type restaurant i would check that out. i know Milwaukee & Saint Louis & places like that are known for custard ice-cream places.

Re: Madison WI
yeah, we've got Michael's frozen custard. I used to work there. Yeah we've got co-ops, trader Joe's, whole foods, and grocery stores that have vegetarian sections.
downtown there are LOTS of restaurants like that.
